A Brewery that is a must in Saint-Gilles, la Porteuse d'eau has settled in a splendid building designed by the architect Ernest Blerot, at the corner of the Jean Volders Avenue, the Brewery (ground floor + first floor) is a jewel of Art Nouveau design. Two floors, a beautiful light passing through stained glass windows.
Although from 1986, the decoration of this Art Nouveau brewery is truly magnificent, with its colourful stained glass window that explains the name of it, its superb monumental staircase lit by a bay window beautifully chiselled, its character rooms spread over two levels and comfortably furnished.
La Porteuse d'Eau is a brewery in the “Brussels style”, where you will find a large menu with dishes cooked with beer alongside more classic preparations as the timeless “Américain préparé” Brussels style steak tartar with minced raw beef. The atmosphere and service are very casual and the quality/price ratio undeniable.
Belgian Classics are served with a smile (Ghent style Poultry Waterzooï, Flemish beef stew, Chicory au Gratin, Crottin of Pepinster in Acacia Honey...) and French (traditional veal blanquette, vanilla rock red mullet ...) accompanied by hexagonal friends wines. A place to meet them…
The beer menu allows you to discover little breweries as well as more famous ones. The boss, constantly looking for exceptional Belgian Beers will often help you discover locally produced craft beers.
